« repaired: see ‘service’. ?Never put the machine in water or let the cord or plug get wet - you could get an electric shock. ?Unplug: ??before filling with water ??before cleaning ??after use. ?Never leave the machine on unattended. ?Don’t let the cord touch hot parts. ?Don’t let infirm people use the machine without supervision. ?Don’t let children play with this machine. important ?Never use without water - the pump will burn out. ?Keep the machine above 0°C - otherwise any water in the machine will freeze and cause damage. ?Only use the machine for its intended domestic use. ?Never use without the drip tray and cup stand. ?Opening the steam knob will allow hot water to flow out of the steam/hot water nozzle. before plugging in ?Make sure your electricity supply is the same as the one shown on the underside of your machine. ?Your machine complies with European Economic Community Directive 89/336/EEC. before using for the first time 1Remove all packaging. 2Wash the parts: see ‘cleaning’. 3Flush the machine through with clean water: see ‘before making coffee for the first time’. 4Wind excess cable around the cleats on the underside of the coffee maker. know your Kenwood espresso machine cup warming tray tank lid water tank spoon steam/hot water nozzle liquid coffee/boiler outlet button/indicator light for hotter coffee () two cup dispensing button/indicator light () OK indicator light () steam/hot water button/indicator light () one cup dispensing button/indicator light () on/off button/indicator light () steam/hot water knob drip tray float cup stand filter holder filter emptying lever filter for 1 cup dispensing or coffee pod filter for 2 cup dispensing only before making coffee for the first time 1Make sure that the steam/hot water knob is closed by turning clockwise (don’t overtighten). 2Lift out the tank, remove the lid and fill with cold water. Never fill above the MAX level marked. Alternatively remove the lid and fill the tank whilst in position on the coffee maker. ?We recommend using filtered water from a Kenwood water filter as it produces better coffee and reduces limescale. Never use fizzy water. ?Re fit the tank. Make sure that it is correctly located and apply light pressure if necessary to ensure the valve at the bottom of the tank connects with the bottom of the machine. Note it is normal for water to remain in the compartment under the tank. This can be dried using a sponge. Important Never operate the machine without water in the tank. Top up as soon as the level gets low. 3Swing out the steam/hot water nozzle and put a jug underneath. 4Attach the filter holder to the machine by positioning it under the liquid coffee/boiler outlet and turning to the right . Place a bowl underneath. 5Switch on by pressing the on/off button (), the OK indicator light will flash to indicate the unit is warming up. (Wait until the light stops flashing indicating that the correct temperature is reached). 6Press the two cup dispensing button () and wait until two cups of water runs into the bowl. (It will automatically switch off after 2 cups have been dispensed). 7Turn the steam/hot water knob anti-clockwise and allow two cups of water to run into the jug. 8Turn the steam/hot water knob off by turning clockwise. 9Repeat these steps once more. ?If you haven’t used the coffee maker for a few days repeat this procedure. preheating the coffee m... »
